Opening hours

Opening times for Museum and Café

Tue - Sun 2 pm - 6 pm
School holidays/public holidays (Saxony):

10 am - 6 pm

Mind you, if it’s really, really hot outside, we tend to close earlier as there are unlikely to be many visitors! Check out our monthly programme to see if there are any changes to our regular opening times and to make doubly sure we’re open, give us a call before you come!

School parties and other groups can visit the museum by prior arrangement outside regular hours at any time after 9am from Monday to Friday.

Please bring slippers – in the exhibitions on the ground floor and Café Goetz you can wear your outdoor shoes. But the upper floor is our space for the youngest children, so slippers are mandatory. We keep a little colletion, but it's limited.

No phone enquiries on Mondays, please. To enquire about possible bookings, please use the booking forms on our website.

Age range:

Our exhibitions are intended for children aged five and over accompanied by adults, and for unaccompanied children of at least 10 years. Mind you, we know from experience that children vary greatly – and their ability to take in the exhibits may even vary throughout the day! Consequently, there are no hard and fast age rules at our museum, especially since we hope the exhibitions will be of interest to adults, too. And with families visiting us with children of different ages, we always have activities for young children, including a play area with its own kids’ construction site. We find it’s best when families simply take all their children to the current exhibition whatever their age. Then they can explore it together, encourage each other, play together, and ask each other questions.
